CAPABILITIES STATEMENts

A Capabilities Statement is essentially a resume for your business in the government contracting marketplace. It’s used as a marketing tool when networking with government agencies and prime contractors.

See our free Capabilities Statement template and instruction guide below!

It should be short – generally just one page – and it should list all of the relevant information about your business in a concise and visually pleasing format — including contracting-specific details like your CAGE code, UEI, any registrations and certifications, and the relevant NAICS or UNSPSC codes. It should also list your business’s main competencies, key clients, and past performance.

See our free template below!

We recommend that you create multiple versions of your Capabilities Statement to target different agencies or opportunities, just as you would a resume. For a simple example, you might have one targeted to California state agencies that lists your UNSPSC codes and CA SB certification, and another for federal agencies that lists your NAICS codes and your federal certifications.

If you are submitting a Capabilities Statement for a specific opportunity, don’t list experience irrelevant to the opportunity.
