Press Release

Special Notification to Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses: 10/16/2023

October 16, 2023

Special Notification to Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOSB)

For firms that have completed a “Self-Certification” as a SDVOSB in your System for Award Management (SAM) profile, that Self-Certification will be removed from you SAM registration on December 31, 2023.

As part of the regulation that established the Small Business Administration (SBA) as the certification authority effective as of January 1, 2023, it also allows the Self-Certification to remain in effect until December 31, 2023. If you have a current active SDVOSB certification from the CVE or SBA, NO action is required. For you to use the SDVOSB status beyond December 31, 2023, in responding to Federal government contract opportunities, you MUST be formally certified by the SBA. This certification process has the requirement that a firm, to upload the application package, MUST have an active SAM registration at that time.

To apply for a SAM registration, you must have Unique Entity Identification (UEI) assigned to you company, and that must be verified by submission of appropriate documentation. Depending on the
number of issues with the documentation this process can take weeks. The SBA certification review processing time is running about 30 days. SBA will not provide any expedited processing of SDVOSB applications because of late submissions.
