| Zero Turn is a Sole Proprietorship, established in 2015. With their patented high-temperature power washing machines, Zero Turn provides a quick, reliable and quality service. The company specializes in parking lots, commercial buildings, streets, and sidewalk cleaning throughout San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. Their innovative equipment not only delivers the desired cleanliness but also collects the dirty water for proper disposal, minimizing negative impact on the environment. Zero Turn prides itself as an eco-friendly service, actively working to divert pollution from the bay. |
CHALLENGES:
Zero Turn started working with Norcal PTAC in 2019 after they gained a short term project with the City of San Mateo on their own, and realized the potential and challenges of navigating the government marketplace successfully. The business experienced difficulty finding bid opportunities and understanding how best to respond to proposals. They requested assistance with registrations and certifications, general guidance on how to perform appropriate market research for the government market, how to identify fitting opportunities and how to submit a winning bid.
ACTIONS:
Norcal PTAC’s Procurement Specialist provided counseling just in time to help with Zero Turn’s first winning proposal with the City of San Mateo; a year-long contract for over $40K. In following counseling sessions, the Norcal PTAC Procurement Specialist assisted in identifying key markets and NAICS/ UNSPSC codes, discussed how to effectively market to agencies and create a Capability Statement, and provided learning resources. The Procurement Specialist continues to advise and guide this business, reviewing documents as needed, clarifying concerns, and recommending actions.
RESULTS:
By embracing expert advice, Zero Turn acquired multiple government contracts totaling about $150k by the end of the year. The company is now properly registered and certified as Small Business with the state of California and is positioned to continue their upward trajectory in the government marketplace.
