ORTIZ GROUP

“Norcal PTAC has been a great support network and has greatly helped my business.”

All Client Stories
Ortiz Group is a HUBZone, 8(a), and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) certified firm located in San Ramon, California. They provide management services to public sector organizations requiring assistance developing, managing, and administering third-party programs. They also provide planning, program evaluations, and other services including the direct administration of client programs. President and Founder, David Ortiz, was referred to Norcal PTAC while still on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces.
CHALLENGES

While on active duty in the military, Mr. Ortiz had an idea for a business and knew he wanted to sell to the government. He did a great deal of research and work on his own to get his company set up but needed Norcal PTAC to help sort out various registrations and certifications, and determine which ones would be most beneficial for his business and in which order he should pursue them. Norcal PTAC listened to his ideas and goals, and helped him connect the dots to get where he needed to be.

ACTIONS

Norcal PTAC provided one-on-one virtual coaching to Mr. Ortiz while he was still in the military. He was trained on the System for Award Management (SAM), socio-economic certifications, market research, Capability Statements, and the benefits of a GSA Schedule. In the beginning, a Norcal PTAC Specialist met with Ortiz Group weekly and then eventually on an as-needed basis. They had discussions about contract risk, 8(a) pros and cons, and how to use bidding on solicitations as an important learning tool. They also worked through issues with the Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS). Mr. Ortiz is an extremely driven client – taking the advice given by Norcal PTAC and running with it!

RESULTS

Ortiz Group is now registered in SAM, Cal eProcure, and various prime contractor databases. He is also 8(a), HUBZone, and SDVOSB certified. He became a partner on the Seaport E contract and obtained the GSA Stars III contract. In addition, he holds a Human Capital and Training Solutions (HCaTS) GSA contract. He is now fully set up to do business with the government and is well on his way to unlimited success.
