Goodbye DUNS, Hello SAMMI

Earlier this year, the General Services Administration (GSA) awarded Ernst and Young LLP with a $41.75 million contract (over five years) for Entity Validation Services, to replace the current federal contractor numbering system—DUNS—with System for Award Management Managed Identifier, or SAMMI.

This new system will potentially bring some improvements in terms of data merge and data security as well as simplifying the renewal process of government contracts and grants. The transition is estimated to be completed by the end of 2020.

Note: Several companies are now offering to assist your company with the transition – for a fee! If your business is registered in SAM, there will be a transition process which PTAC will advise/assist when and how it will be accomplished at no cost. If you are approached by one of these companies, please contact your PTAC Specialist.
