NorCal PTAC Service Area

NorCal PTAC serves small businesses located in Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Shasta, Siskiyou and Trinity counties.  NorCal PTAC welcomes inquiries from small businesses domiciled throughout these northern California distressed counties and will be happy to help you identify and access appropriate procurement assistance resources.

NorCal PTAC provides contracting assistance to small businesses selling to federal, state and local government agencies including, but not limited to, 
  • GSA Schedule support
  • Vendor registration (DUNS,
  • State and local government (SB, DVBE, DBE, MBE, WBE) certification assistance
  • federal governement (SB, 8(a), WOSB/EDWOSB, HUBZone, SDVOSB/VOSB) certification assistance

  • One-on-one counseling
  • Government contracting outreach events
  • Marketing to government procurement entities
Services also include readiness assessment for businesses wanting to sell to the government and bid-matching service to help you locate targeted and/or specific bidding opportunities, and assist with the bidding and capture process.

Workshops and webinars are available to help familiarize you with various aspects of federal, state, and local contracting.

Determining Suitability for Contracting
PTAC counselors can help you determine if your company is ready for the unique challenges associated with federal, state and local contracts. Then we can best position you to succeed.

Completing Necessary Registrations
We can help make sure you are properly registered on the System for Award Management (SAM), qualifying you to do business with the government.  Depending on your needs, PTAC Counselors can advise you on the correct registrations necessary for federal, state and local government vendor databases.
Networking and Training
Connect with agency buying officers, prime contractors and other businesses during PTAC events and trainings in your region.
Certifications and Small Business Programs  such as SDB, 8(a), HUBZone, WOSB, SDVOSB
Certain small businesses are eligible for unique opportunities in some government solicitations. PTAC counselors can help you determine if your company is eligible for these certifications and guide you through application and submission process.

We provide help on developing an effective marketing strategy for getting federal, state, and local contracts.
Researching Procurement Histories
What agencies have bought products like yours in the past? Which companies have been awarded these contracts? How much have they been paid? By law this information is required to be public. We can help you ask the right questions and find the information you need to succeed.
Identifying Bid Opportunities
We can make sure that you are notified – on a daily basis – of all government contract opportunities that your company is eligible to bid on.
Proposal Preparation
A procurement specialist can help you navigate even the most difficult solicitation package, including securing necessary specifications, drawings and pricing considerations. 
Contract Performance Issues
After you’ve received your award, we can help with certain contract performance issues, such as:
  • Negotiating and interfacing with the agency
  • Developing a cost-accounting system
